PHM stands in solidarity and support with the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes
The People's Health Movement expresses its deepest solidarity and support for the people of Venezuela in the wake of the devastating earthquakes on June 24 that have affected the country, causing loss of life, injuries, destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the displacement of thousands of families. We share in the grief of those who have lost loved ones and express our support for all affected communities.
We recognize and appreciate the extraordinary efforts of healthcare workers, rescue teams, community organizations, and volunteers, as well as the international support teams that have arrived and who, under extremely difficult conditions, continue to care for victims and search for survivors. Their commitment represents a concrete expression of solidarity and the defense of life.
We hope that healthcare workers, rescue teams, and humanitarian personnel are provided with the supplies, equipment, medications, and tools necessary to carry out their work safely and effectively. We also call for those affected to immediately receive the emergency humanitarian aid they need, ensuring access to medical care, safe drinking water, food, shelter, and other essential services.
We call on health activists, PHM circles, and allied organizations across Latin America, the Caribbean, and around the world to strengthen solidarity efforts by supporting emergency relief, reconstruction, and the protection of the right to health for all those affected. We also urge everyone who is able to contribute to the immediate humanitarian response. Every expression of solidarity—no matter how small—can help save lives, alleviate suffering, and restore hope and dignity to affected communities.
PHM Latin America has formed a committee to show support and solidarity with the Venezuelan people, with the aim of coordinating information and humanitarian assistance during these critical times and supporting reconstruction efforts once the emergency has been resolved.
Solidarity is the love of the people, and now is the time to put it into action.
