Legal harassment against academics in Greece

Three academics, who are members of the executive board of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) Faculty Union, are being prosecuted by Greek authorities. The charges stem from their participation in a student union demonstration protesting a new and controversial regulatory framework governing free university housing.

The legal persecution of these academics is unprecedented; it is an attack on freedom of expression and academic freedom. This case is just one example of the ongoing implementation of disciplinary and undemocratic policies in universities across Europe and around the world.
