Webinar: The Impact of War on Women in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

Join us for a webinar on the situation of women in the DRC, where three specialists will analyze the impact of war on their safety, their access to healthcare and their living conditions in a context of extreme violence. Congolese women are on the front line of the atrocities caused by the war in eastern DR Congo. It is more essential than ever to be aware of their reality and to understand the extent of the violence they suffer on a daily basis.

• Annie Tenga (Head of the NGO Afia Mama): will explain how militarization and the presence of armed groups aggravate violence against women, in particular the use of rape as a weapon of war.
• Evia Yalenga (Head of the “Right to Health” program at Si Jeunesse Savait (SjS)): will address the difficulties of access to healthcare for displaced women, pregnant women or victims of sexual violence in conflict zones.
• Jessie Nsoki Miansi (lawyer, teacher and author of “Rape and Armed Conflict: The Case of the DRC”): will analyze the consequences of rape as a weapon of war and the obstacles faced by survivors in obtaining justice.
