The world is on fire as we see wars and conflicts are escalating in several countries and regions in the world. The ongoing genocide in Palestine, the wars in Lebanon and Yemen, the catastrophic situation in Sudan and the Democratic Republic Congo, have an enormous impact on the right to health of the people. War, conflict, occupation and forced migration are key social determinants of health exacerbating existing inequalities, therefore the People's Health Movement (PHM) decided to act. 

The ongoing genocide in Gaza has turned hospitals and healthcare facilities into battlefields, where healthcare workers and patients are being brutally targeted. Weapons supplied to Israel are driving the mass slaughter of civilians and the destruction of essential healthcare services. Medical missions are banned, hospitals are being bombed, and children are suffering and dying due to lack of care.

PHOn behalf of the Palestinian people and the victims of the war, representing the People's Health Movement (PHM), Roman Vega, global coordinator of the PHM sent a letter to Philemon Yang of Cameroon, President of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations “demanding the immediate suspension of Israeli apartheid from the United Nations, just as South African apartheid was suspended in the past”.
