The People's Health Movement is looking for young PHM activists to be part of the team of Watchers for the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79). PHM is preparing to watch the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) of the World Health Organisation. The Watch will last from 11 May to 24 May 2025. During the first week there will be a preparatory workshop preceded by online webinars one is required to attend and prepare for. During the second week Watchers will following the WHA proceedings. Following the WHA79 watch in Geneva, watchers are asked join online feedback activities to the broader People's Health Movement. The WHA Watch is in-person only. English will be the working language of the Watch.
If you have participated in one of the WHO watches and you want to deepen your analysis and experience, please apply. If you never attended a WHO watch but passionate about the political economy of Global Health Governance, hold a critical health perspective and an health activist in your country, you are also welcome to apply.
As the work is intense, being able to work under pressure while still providing support to your fellow Watchers is what we are looking for. We expect the Watchers to prioritize the watching work and be available for the full period of the meetings, including the preparatory online workshops in April and the in-person workshop the week before the WHA78. We expect Watchers to remain active in the work of PHM or their current organisation even after the watch.
And that this year we hope WHO Watchers will contribute to the WHO Tracker items in advance of the Workshop in Geneva.
Please note that we cannot guarantee entry badges for everyone, however we are trying our best.
