PHM Environment and Health circle is the co-organiser of an upcoming event, the People’s Health Hearing, due to take place during COP26 (United Nations Climate Change Conference) in November '21. We are calling for contributions from interested individuals/organisation for this health hearing.
The People’s Health Hearing at COP 26 will be a one-day event and online space that bears witness to the public / collective health impacts of extractive industries & provides a space to connect to people’s struggles and set out a vision for intersectional, transformative climate justice. It will also include an online gallery and collection. We are hoping to use the event as a centre for movement building and connecting health and climate activists across the world, and continuing to build this movement after the hearing.
Hearings are a powerful way to listen and share stories and testimonies of people with lived experience of climate change and extractive industries, and we hope to focus on hearing the voices who may not be heard inside the formal COP process, and bring together the connections between climate, health, global, racial, disability and migrant justice.
The exact date is to be confirmed (tentatively the 7th of November 2021) and it will be online, as part of the People’s Summit for Climate Justice, organised by the COP 26 Coalition. The Hearing is being organised by a number of different groups including Students for Global Health, Race & Health, Medact,The People’s Health Movement and Actions Speak Louder Than Words.
We have just released our expression of interest form for groups who would like to participate (in any format) on the day. We would love your members to apply- Google form in English, Google form en Español. Formulaire Google en Français
