Important note about Schengen visas

All delegates passing through Europe to reach Ecuador please note that you  DO need a Schengen visa (despite all rumours to the contrary). You need this visa even if you are not stepping out of the airport to change terminals. There is a high probablilty that you will not be allowed to board your flight without the visa even if you have return tickets and all other documents. As of now, it seems that passengers going through Amsterdam may not need one but please keep track of any new developments.

The Basic process

Step 1: Register now so we can facilitate your visa. As per the latest information from Ecuador almost ALL countries of the world need visas. The information sent out in March is no longer valid.

For visa inquiries write to visaspha2@yahoo.com

Step 2: Find out if you have an Ecuadorian consulate or embassy. Check the following link

http://www.mmrree.gov.ec/mre/documentos/representaciones/indice_embajada_extranjeras.htm

Step 3: For those countries, who need visas and who have consulates in the country, the visa can be stamped before departure in the country consulate itself.

Step 4: Requirements for delegates without Ecuadorian consulates or embassies:

1. List of the delegates with the following information:
a. Complete name as it appears in the passport
b. Number of the passport, which must be valid for at least the next six months
c. Itinerary of the trip
d. Name of airline and number of flight

2. The list should be sent to the following email address: visaspha2@yahoo.com
and no other.

3. The last date for receiving the lists is Sunday, June 26, 2005.

4. Delegates must legalize their entry into the country at the office of the ministry of Foreign Relations in Cuenca.

5. The cost of the visa is US $60.00

THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • Visitors must also have a return ticket to their country of origin or to another destination.
  • To enter the country, visitors must fill in an international embarkation-disembarkation form. It is important to keep it with your passport.
  • Those who wish to stay in the country longer than 90 days have to fill out the corresponding paperwork in an Ecuadorian consulate.
  • If the traveller enters Ecuador as a tourist it is not possible to change visa status while they are in the country.
  • All delegates are expected to carry their original credentials including their pasports all the time in Ecuador. Copies are not acceptable
