could not hear the music"

Nietzche

Festival of the Voices of the Earth

Thousands will come to the assembly because they hope for a more humane and compassionate world towards which they work every day. But on this evening they shall dance.

  • Negro y Blanco (Bolivia)
  • Tambores y otros demonios (Ecuador)
  • PerroZompopo (Nicaragua)
  • Pueblo Nuevo (Ecuador)
  • Camino de Santiago (Cuba)

The Bolivian performers Negro y Blanco who are part of the Nueva Trova movement, offer us profound reflections about human realities.  Their name was born after searching for a concept that names them but also jolts our complacency. Their name is deliberately not Blanco y Negro (white and black).  It reflects the dualities of life, shows us that sometimes what looks good might be bad and vice versa. No one owns the truth. The important thing is to question the reality all the time. Their delicate music has travelled around South America and they have shared stage with important musicians like Santiago Feliu (Cuba).  The musical performance promises to be delightful. Their music has a following in several South America countries.  “Negro y Blanco” has shared a stage with singers like Santiago Feliz.  The musical performance promises to be delightful.

With their extraordinary performance, Tambores y Otros Demonios will add a wild ingredient of massive traditional percussion instruments. Tambores y Otros Demonios is a musical groupl that uses Indo - Afro Americans percussion instruments and explores musical styes like: rumba, samba, cumbia, mapalé, techno, maracatú, yumbo, son, xiux, san juan, among others. This music is not only for the young but for all the dreamers and restless hearts who are coming to this festival.

From Central America, the Nicaraguan singer and writer PerroZompopo comes to this festival with a poetic and political musical project, in which he mixes guitar, bass, drums, percussion, violin, voice and lyrics. His performance is charming and yet bitter-sweet as it invokes Nicaragua’s pain. The rock, reggae, ska and Brazilian music mixed in his lyrics will return us to the reality of Central America.

Pueblo Nuevo

This group of Ecuador will perform a part of their repertoire rich in Andean blends. Their beginning was marked by the “protest” music (protest music). Their style , after 30 years on the road, is a mixture of Andean instruments, metals, strings, percussion, and electronic instruments, accompany three vocalists in tunes that goes from folk music to “boleros”, creating their own flavours; the key that has united Pueblo Nuevo i.

Camino de Santiago

The piece de resistance of the festival, this Cuban group came to existence in 2000. They perform Cuban music of all genres including Latin, Caribbean and jazz music genres. Their excellent music, deeply Cuban, will entice the thousands of people of all ages, sexes, beliefs, colours, nationalities, and cultures at the Assembly to DANCE!
